Since then, it has been exactly 30 years sincerely walks confidently on the planet, one after another “conquering” all new and new countries, regaining the army of fans in a new and old light, and will not overthrow. Michael, you are well known in the United States and beyond as the "king of modern urban fashion." When and for what reason did you decide to create your own fashion brand?

Each of my family members was a fan of fashion, or as it is customary to say in the English-speaking countries “fashionista”. My mother worked as a model, my grandmother never wore the same thing twice, and my grandfather was engaged in the textile business. Therefore, fashion has been in my blood since birth. And I did not ask myself unnecessary questions, realizing that sooner or later I would become a designer.

What does the concept of "fashion" mean to you?

I prefer the word "style."

Should you understand that style prevails for you over fashion?

Yes, the style is primary. Is always.

Where do your ideas come from, what is your source of inspiration?

I live my life between airplanes, airports and trips to new cities and countries ... Wherever I am - in the city, on the beach or on a safari, I always pay attention to the fact that I am surrounded by the local population of each country ... Traveling - it is an endless source of inspiration.

Your collections are always elegant, with clear lines and a perfect fit. Do they reflect your character and outlook on life?

They reflect what I want: the highest quality and models with eternal chic and unprecedented luxury.

Who supports you in your work? And how long does it usually take to turn all ideas into a new collection?

My partner, Lance LePere, works with me at every stage of creating new collections ... In addition, the Michael Kors team has many creative people who work tirelessly to maintain the brand image and vision based on the philosophy of timeless chic.

Do you remember your first collection? What was her main message?

I remember her as if it were yesterday! One of the first reviews of my collection in 1981 was an article by Anna Wintour (then she worked in the magazine "New York"), in which it was said that I created luxurious sportswear with elements of chic. This is true today, since I would be nobody if I were not distinguished by constancy!

Could you tell us about your favorite things and silhouettes of the new autumn-winter collection 2011-2012?

These are strict trousers, draped jersey dresses complete with stylish "pajama" trousers, as well as sexy jumpsuits decorated with rhinestones that must be worn with a classic blazer in a figure. And this is just the tip of the iceberg!

Your clothes, shoes and accessories are well known and popular among many celebrities and first ladies of the world. Do you know fans of the Michael Kors brand from Russia? What do you know and think about them?

I have regular customers in Russia, and I love them very much. Any woman can become a “Michael Kors woman” if she is confident and knows her worth.

What do you like to come up with the most - ready-made clothing collections, shoes, bags or accessories?

Oh no! Do not put me before a choice! I like everything!

In terms of marketing and sales, which markets do you consider the best to promote the Michael Kors brand today?

I am lucky because my brand is very popular in the USA! Today, we are concentrating our efforts on expanding the brand's presence in the markets of Europe and Asia. My main goal is to open as many Michael Kors mono-boutiques and individual sections as possible "shop in shop" in large department stores in these countries.

What accomplishments as a fashion designer are you proud of?

It was great to receive the CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America for fashion achievements in 2010! The recognition received from my peers in the fashion industry for their loyalty and devotion to their own vision of the new facets of luxury was pleasant and incredible. However, I am sure that the best is yet to come.

They will preserve traditions and recognition, but you will find many surprises.
