Passing a driver's license in Dubai is now possible in your native language

Theoretical exams for obtaining rights in Dubai will soon be possible to pass with the help of translators in 198 languages.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has signed an agreement with the Kreative Company Events, which will result in the introduction of theoretical exams for obtaining a driver’s license in 198 languages in the emirate.

This step is part of the efforts of the RTA to promote the Smart City initiative and the implementation of the third strategic goal, which can be formulated as “public happiness”.

Ahmed Bakhrosyan, head of the licensing department at RTA, said: “The company will provide us with translators from anywhere in the world to interact with the examiner via Skype in test centers, translate theoretical questions of the online test into the languages spoken by the examiners.”

Ahmed explained that applicants should apply for a translator in their preferred language seven days before the exam and pay the fees.

“To ensure that translators remain neutral and do not exceed their authority, the company has provided a recording system that integrates with the RTA smart monitoring center to provide control and transparency,” he said.

Arif Al-Malek, director of driver training and certification in the RTA licensing department, said that RTA’s efforts to translate the vast number of languages spoken by the examiners stemmed from the needs of a large number of nationalities living in Dubai.
