In the period from October 2 to 5, 2010, the UAE was visited by a delegation of Belarusian business circles under the auspices of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The Belarusian delegation was headed by First Deputy Chairman of the BelCCI N. N. Sahar. The Belarusian delegation assisted in organizing a program of stay in the UAE was provided by the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the UAE.
On October 3, the second Belarusian-Emirate business forum was held in the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the participation of representatives of business circles of the two countries. At the opening of the business forum, the first deputy chairman of the Abu Dhabi CCI Mr. K. S. Al Kaabi and the first deputy chairman of the BelCCI, N. N. Sahar, noted the need for further development of relations between the chambers of commerce of the two countries in order to enhance bilateral economic and trade cooperation. Nikolai Nikolaevich Sahar invited the emirate businessmen to visit the Republic of Belarus in 2010 or in 2011 under the auspices of the Abu Dhabi CCI to familiarize themselves with the economic potential of the republic and investment opportunities. The multimedia presentation of the Republic of Belarus prepared by the BelCCI was presented to the attention of the leadership of the Abu Dhabi CCI and capital's businessmen. A member of the Belarusian delegation, lawyer of Argument Legal Group LLC D.V. Aleinikov, addressed the representatives of the emirate's business circles with a message on the topic "Opportunities for privatization and investment in the Republic of Belarus."
Within the framework of the Belarusian-Emirate Business Forum, a contact-cooperation exchange between representatives of the Belarusian and Emirate business circles was held at the CCI Abu Dhabi. The next day, October 4, the Belarusian delegation was received at the Dubai CCI. Presentations of the business investment climate in the emirate of Dubai, as well as the CCI of Dubai, were presented to the members of the Belarusian delegation. The head of the Belarusian delegation, N. N. Sahar, invited the leadership of the Dubai CCI to visit the Republic of Belarus with a delegation of business circles of this second largest and most important emirate in the UAE. Mr. A. Zh. Farazh Nasib, Senior Director of the Dubai CCI, responsible for cooperation with the Republic of Belarus, noted that "the work plan of the Dubai CCI for 2011 will be drawn up taking into account the visit to Belarus." Representatives of the CCI of Dubai expressed interest in obtaining a list of exhibitions held in Belarus for their possible visit. Representatives of the Belarusian business community were invited to visit Dubai in 2011.
In Dubai, the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the UAE also organized direct negotiations of members of the Belarusian delegation, representing various fields of activity - from the heads of large industrial enterprises to entrepreneurs, with the Emirate businessmen. Giving comments on the results of the visit of Belarusian businessmen, in an interview with our correspondent Nikolai Nikolaevich Sahar, First Deputy Chairman of the BelCCI, in particular, said: “No matter how severe the crises are, you should always look for cooperation options. In order to organize this trip, we interviewed businessmen and learned from them where they would like to go first of all.The purpose of our visit is to find Belarusian companies and enterprises of serious partners in the UAE. As part of this trip, we held a trade and economic forum m in the CCI of Abu Dhabi. Then we met with representatives of the CCI of Dubai. During this meeting, we agreed that it was necessary to give additional impetus, enhance bilateral cooperation and improve the work on promoting the goods and services of our countries. We were promised that the official delegation of the CCI Dubai will accept our invitation and visit the Republic of Belarus. I think it’s too early to talk about the specific results of this trip, but I hope that the meetings held by our businessmen with representatives of the emirate business community exists, albeit short-lived, eventually, bear fruit. "
According to the adviser, the head of the trade and economic service of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the UAE, Sergey Ruslanovich Belogortsev, meetings of representatives of the Belarusian and Emirate business are becoming regular, the business forum held in Abu Dhabi is a response to a visit to the delegation of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of the UAE in 2008 of the Republic of Belarus and holding the first Belarusian-Emirate business forum in Minsk. In 2009, representatives of large emirate investment companies visited the Belarusian Investment Forum in Minsk, this year the participation of Arab companies in a similar event, which will be held on November 17 in Frankfurt as part of the European Financial Week, is also being considered. The diplomat noted that the UAE is the main trading partner of the Republic of Belarus among the Arab states of the Persian Gulf, the ministries of foreign affairs of the two countries are currently working on preparations for a meeting of the joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, within the framework of which it is planned to discuss a wide range of topical issues of bilateral cooperation, including expansion mutual trade, increase in turnover, deepening credit investment cooperation.
