President of Belarus receives Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates

On March 12, 2010, the President of Belarus received the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates, Mohammed Mayer Abdullah Al-Raisi, whose mission in Minsk is ending. Alexander Lukashenko thanked the UAE for its continued support to Belarus on the world stage. And he turned to the ambassador with these words: “Tell the leadership of your country: you can have no doubt in the decency and sincerity of the position that Belarus holds in relation to the United Arab Emirates.” The President also noted with satisfaction: "Our relations have reached a high level of intensity, an extensive legal framework for bilateral cooperation has been formed." Speaking about mutual trade turnover, Alexander Lukashenko stated that it is still small (according to the results of 2009, it amounted to $ 25.7 million). But on the other hand, "it’s very decent, given that before there was practically no trade between our countries." Muhammad Mayer Abdullah Al-Raisi expressed the opinion that political relations between the two states are developing very successfully, but contacts in the economy are not so dynamic. In the future, the diplomat believes, this gap will be made up.
