Cheetahs are predatory mammals of the cat family and are considered the fastest predators on Earth, reaching 110-115 km / h in pursuit of a prey, accelerating to 75 km / h in two seconds. In the Arabian Wildlife Park, cheetahs play an important role, maintaining a balance between predators and herbivores that are their food. The presence of cheetahs in any reserve means that the population of ungulates is under control and the herbivores living on the island will not cause irreparable damage to the island plant system.

Initially, the island of Sir Bani Yas was the largest reserve in the area of the Arabian Peninsula.

Spread over 87 km.sup2, this reserve was created by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder and first president of the United Arab Emirates, in 1971, and for a long time was his personal residence. Today, Sir Bani Yas is an eco-resort that hospitably welcomes tourists from different countries.
