Dubai Metro will be connected to urban water transport

The Dubai Roads and Transport Committee (RTA) has completed work on a project to integrate the city’s existing water transport system into the new metro and bus network.

The new system will allow residents and guests of Dubai to use water buses, ferries and traditional Arab dhows, serving Dubai by water, as part of the city’s transport network.

According to the chairman of the board of directors of the RTA's Marine Agency (RTA's Marine Agency), Dr. Khalid Al Zahid, at least four metro stations on both sides of the Dubai Creek will be connected to water transport stations with special air-conditioned crossings. For example, the water station in the Al Gubayba area will be directly connected to the Al Gubaiba metro station and the bus station in Bar Dubai.

The Union Square metro station in Deira is closed at Bani Yas Marina, next to the Dubai Underground City Hall. The City Center metro station on the red metro line will have direct access to the pier next to the pontoon bridge, and the Gold Souk pier next to the Deira Gold Market will be connected to the metro station and bus station in Al Ras district. Recall that the opening of the first phase of the Dubai Metro is scheduled for September 9, 2009.
