Heel Summer Shoe Trends Summer 2009

Text: Anastasia Zorina

The great maestro Giuseppe Zanotti was right (may the admirers of the great Giuseppe e Verdi forgive me), saying once that a high heel is the best antidepressant. How else can one explain the fact that it was during the global fall in stock quotes that the designers of women's shoes reached the height of the stilettos - 17.7 cm? And the increase in the cost of shoes "haute couture" was proportional to the decline in the cost of oil? Who would have thought that Louis Vuitton's latest creation, Spicy Sandals, would someday cost the equivalent of 32 barrels of raw.

Voila, boys! In the crisis summer of 2009, we proudly enter with his head held high, in the most expensive and highest heels in the world history of fashion!

Extremely high studs This season, the main trend - the higher the better. Better for your own conceit and beauty, but, alas, not for the safety of movement. The anti-crisis intentions of shoe designers were noticeable last season, when fashion models accustomed to everything were seen falling from the heels at Gucci, Dsquared2, Miu Miu and Emilio Pucci shows. But the shoe makers were not embarrassed. Largely thanks to Victoria Beckham and Gwyneth Paltrow, 12.7 cm last season became baby talk compared to 15.2 cm and 17.7 cm this season. And darling Louboutin is already constructing new heights.

Mega-high studs on the verge of a foul without a platform and on megaplatforms are what we should try to tame every fashionable woman who respects herself this summer. And they are in all collections and in all manifestations. Some of them can be carried over only if you make small dashes. Others are surprisingly comfortable and quite suitable for work: as always Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo, very friendly women Rupert Sanderson and Ruthie Davis excelled. And although the height of the current heel is contrary to the laws of physics, but it does not at all go against the aesthetics. And what do we care about physics and sick ankles when all THIS is also SO beautiful!

Catchy jewelry

Details are more important than ever. They concede, perhaps, only to the heel, if they themselves are not this heel. Few designers had to work on the architecture of the shoe itself: they also issued complex architectural solutions for heels. Dior, for example, has produced shoes with heels in the form of a figurine and a tree trunk decorated with plants and animals. Alexander McQueen made the heel twist like a wave. The braided heel was on the Bottega Venetta, futuristic and structured on the Proenza Schoule. But most of all the applause was ripped off by Yves Saint Laurent with his “cage” shoes, which went into the summer season in the form of sandals. They are equipped with high enough heels, on which you can move quite comfortably. The only drawback is the possible occurrence of very funny traces of "tart" from the tan. This season's evening shoes are richly decorated with rhinestones, crystals, bows and "roses". Again and again, a young tempter, Briton Nicholas Kirkwood, distinguished himself by creating, among other things, shoes with lace and a platform encrusted with pearls that prevent many women from sleeping peacefully, including your “dear editorial office”.

What else to spend on this season is ballet shoes with decorations and large, vibrant details. It doesn’t matter what it will be - a giant button, balls, pompons, bows or crystals, details should be noticeable and play your own party in the general ensemble.

Wedges

Occupying a place of honor between tall "stilettos" and boring shoes without heels, wedges firmly established themselves in the collections of designers. They are no longer a trend, but a necessity that not only makes us higher, but also gives a greater credit for comfort.

Despite the classic forms, this season the wedges are not at all monotonous: it's all about color. The wedge itself can be anything - from thinly tailored, under the "hairpin", to unbearably massive. And the more weighty and brighter the wedge shoes, the easier the outfit should be. Otherwise, an advantage will come.

Bright colours

It was experimentally proved that most men have no idea what color is called "fuchsia." Moreover, most often a man does not even know how this word is spelled! But we women know that fuchsia is one of the trendy colors of the season. And also - lemon green, yellow and deep blue. Bright sandals are ideal for a casual suit on days of relaxation, and acid-colored ballet flats can bring to life dark skinny jeans and a simple t-shirt for shopping. It is good to have bright high-heeled shoes that can completely change the appearance of a lady in a small black dress. What are the amazing “pins” from Behnaz Kanani, Brian Atwood and the incredible ones from Ruthie Davis!

Lanyards, fringe and lacing

The more straps that fit your foot this season, the better. Incredibly romantic models were spotted by Gucci, Oscar De La Renta and Emilio Pucci. Here, already this season, laces adjoin, and, especially, fringe, which are now abundantly equipped with fashionable bags. It is fringe that beats the current "ethno" style. Soft fringe made from sand suede is especially popular.

The internal micro-trend - emphasis on the ankle, went beyond the framework of the "micro" in the "macro", manifesting itself, both in versions with simple ribbons and richly decorated with stones. Another theme is rocker style, chains and rivets, and even the spikes that Kenzo, Anna Sui and Alexander Wang beat this season, including in the evening version. In order not to miss this style, you need to take expensive shoes - cheap looks sad. And you shouldn’t do experiments here if you don’t have any taste and courage.

All this unimaginable variety is suitable for any outfit - from romantic dresses to rolled up jeans to the level of the ankle. But the measure also needs to be known, because it has long been known that the straps visually shorten the length of the leg, "cutting" its virgin horizontal line.

Largely thanks to Agness Dane and Alex Chang, not so beautiful, but stylish shoes with lacing and flat soles flowed from the spring season to the summer. They are good in rainy weather with any clothes, and in sunny weather - with dresses for t-shirts “for growth”.

"Gladiators"

"Gladiators" this summer are even more relevant than last. Both sandals and heels. It is they who should become the obligatory acquisition of this season - without the “gladiators" today is nowhere. Last year’s will also work, but if you buy new ones, then with the highest possible straps for sandals and with straps above the bone - for options with heels.

Designers work harder to create original “gladiators” in heels, and high street is simply teeming with a variety of models of sandals. For ideas, check out La Perla, Anna Sui, and Iceberg.

It is better to choose pastel colors, for example, glamorous powdery pink, perfectly suited to tanned legs.

The more serious the “gladiators” in design and color, the simpler the clothes should be: short cotton summer dresses, plain shorts, T-shirts and shirts “from someone else’s shoulder”.

Ballet shoes and other mundane

We will go down from heaven to earth, to ballet shoes and other creations on a flat sole, without which it is impossible to live, but somehow boring (after all, not only one of them did not force us to bury our nose in a monitor or fashion magazine, uttering a quiet moan of delight). And, nevertheless, you don’t really run into the “louboutins” ...

To create the image of a girl who has just visited the best golf course in the city, you need to stock up on good moccasins. They combine perfectly with the must-have of the season - harem trousers, and very badly - with golfers' trousers cut 10 cm below the knees. The news of the season was the return of canvas shoes with thick rubber soles and a platform. And best of all, they will look not with marine-themed clothes (flowers are still more relevant), but with simple jeans in the "boyfriend" style. There will just be a good reason to get this trendy, but not popular model, and watch out for Katie Holmes, who wears them with a large fleur and is always on a flat sole.

Compared to other mundane versions of shoes this season, ballet flats stand out. And just because they can be any, but always in style. Especially good are bright, juicy, with aggressive prints "a la leopard and zebra" and in the style of "ethno". Simple ballet shoes fit everything - and jeans, and skirts, and dresses.

The newly appeared narrow-nosed ballet flats will be an excellent solution for an office suit and a replacement for high heels. But the most important thing is that all flat shoes are completely wallet friendly.

The flagships of high street make a great alternative to the models of designers, and here the quality is not so much the brand itself. The Zenith of shoe art this season unanimously recognized the above-mentioned "Spicy sandals" (Spicy sandals) from Louis Vuitton. Let me throw rotten tomatoes, but I can’t stop saying that it’s not just THESE shoes, but a work of art. For many months now, the unrealistic creation of Marc Jacobs has not left the pages of fashion magazines. 11.4 cm of the heel brings up three fashionable trends this season, but the thing is, after all, in all these straps, beads, ribbons, leather, masks, which Jacobs made with his own hands.

A mere mortal will not succeed in obtaining a pair of “spices”. But there is a solution: either urgently go to River Island and line up for a very decent budgetary remark, or stock up on material and patience, and do something your own.

The main thing is that the love of tall stiletto heels does not literally turn upside down, and our men still understand that "these" shoes are completely different than "ETI".
