Killer 11-year-old boy in the UAE will be executed

The killer of an 11-year-old Pakistani boy in Abu Dhabi was sentenced to death.

A man of Pakistani origin, accused of killing and raping an 11-year-old boy on the roof of a building in Abu Dhabi, has been sentenced to death.

The Abu Dhabi trial court on Monday morning, November 27, sentenced a 33-year-old man after being convicted of murder and rape.

The court also ordered the killer to pay 200 thousand dirhams ($ 54 thousand) in compensation for the child’s family.

A Pakistani-born boy, Azan Majid, went missing June 1, 2017 after he went to a nearby mosque to pray. His body was discovered the next day on the roof of the building where he lived with his father and stepmother.

Earlier it was reported that before arriving in Abu Dhabi, Azan lived with his mother in Russia.

According to police, the offender changed into a woman to attack the child.

The man denied all charges against him throughout the proceedings. He told the judge that his confession to the police and prosecutors was made under duress.

The prosecution demanded the death penalty for the man.

The boy's father demanded public execution.

The death sentence can be appealed within 14 days after the decision.
