Dubai police urge New Year party visitors to leave bags at home

Dubai police urge visitors to the New Year show at Burj Khalifa not to take bags with them to facilitate and speed up the search process.

Guests of the show at Burj Khalifa on New Year's Eve are asked to leave large bags at home to avoid police searches.

There will be 1.5 million people in Downtown Dubai, so security and patrol measures will be the most serious this year.

Police officers warn that people with large bags are likely to go through additional searches, which will slow down their progress.

Nearby streets will be blocked at 16:00, and the metro will stop moving at 10 pm.

Abdullah Ali Al Gaiti, the head of the Dubai Police Security and Emergencies Department, said that some people came in the last New Year with bags of food and drinks to search.

He also expressed concern about the number of drivers who parked their cars on Sheikh Zayed Road from Jumeirah in previous years.

"Some families, along with their children, park their cars in the middle of the road and look at the fireworks," he said. According to him, it threatens their lives and the lives of other people.

Authorities urge to use public transport on New Year's Eve.

“Traffic will be blocked in the center of Dubai at 4:00 p.m. I advise people to use the metro. Metro stations will transport people to the main points of Dubai. In addition, we will provide buses for free trips from three metro stations near Burj Khalifa, Dubai International Financial Center and Business Bay, "Al Gaiti added.

He said there are also plans to organize free parking at the Dubai World Trade Center.

Buses will transport people to and from the Dubai Mall.

Al Gaiti also said that on New Year's Eve 5 thousand cameras will work, mobile control rooms will be created, and police will monitor the movement of people and their safety.

“We are responsible for ensuring that people remain safe,” he added.
