Dubai has set up a special fund to help the poor

The government of Dubai has established a special fund to help the poorest.

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA), together with six private companies, will offer discounted healthcare services.

The Dubai Government has extended a helping hand to the poorest people as part of the new Dubai Health Administration program dedicated to the Year of Zayed in the UAE.

Together with six private companies in Dubai, DHA has established a fund of 30 million dirhams (about $ 8 million), from which medical services for the poor will be financed.

The project is called Ataa 'wa Saa'da (Give for Good), it aims to help patients with disabilities, as well as to help those people who have faced financial, psychological and social difficulties in life.

The project aims to strengthen collaboration between the Health Department and private enterprises. The head of the Humeid Al Kutami Office described this initiative as an opportunity to provide humanitarian assistance to all those in need as part of the celebration of the year of Zayed in the country.

“A number of private clinics have responded to this program, aimed at helping people with disabilities and low-income groups,” said Mr. Al Kutami.

The names of six private firms participating in the implementation of this project have not yet been named. It is predicted that this fund will operate annually, with each year more and more companies will be attracted to participate in it, thus providing more opportunities for medical care.

"We had a series of meetings with business representatives interested in developing the project," said Dr. Marwan Al Mullah, director of one of the departments in the Office.

"Also, the Humanitarian Aid Department at DHA will play a significant role in achieving the goals of this project."

DHA has always encouraged various volunteer movements, such as the Day for Dubai movement, which helps older people and people with disabilities.

Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and the head of the Executive Council of Dubai, signed a project under which every resident should participate in the volunteer project at least once a year.

From January 25 to the end of 2018, the Day in the Hut program will operate, within the framework of which events aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle will be held.

Another DHA project is Community Visitors, which aims to help older people. The launch of this project is scheduled for February 1.

"These projects are a great opportunity to awaken the spirit of volunteering in the hearts of UAE citizens, as well as remind everyone how important it is to help one's neighbor," said Mr. Al Kutami.
