Millionaires in UAE spend more and more money on health

In the UAE, there is a trend towards higher health costs among wealthy people.

Millionaires are increasingly not just devoting their time to doing business, buying real estate or investing in stocks - they are changing their habits, expenses and lifestyle. All for the sake of one cherished goal - to live up to 100 years.

A study in the UAE, which involved more than 400 people with investment assets of at least $ 1 million, found that super-rich people now pay more attention to health, and that they are even willing to sacrifice their wealth to live longer. In fact, 9 out of 10 respondents (91%) admitted that health is more important to them than wealth.

Today, wealthy people spend time and money on going to the gym, sparing no finances on fitness trainers, dietary supplements, insurance and medical advice - all in order to slow down aging and extend life expectancy.

Almost half (45 percent) of high-income people in the UAE said they believed they would live up to 100 years.

According to UBS Investor Watch, the largest international study of wealthy people, this figure is significantly higher than projected life expectancy in most developed countries.

"In fact, the richest investors expect to live longer than anyone else - and they are willing to sacrifice their wealth for health," UBS experts say.

“Rich people spend money not only on visiting doctors and paying insurance premiums, but also on health prevention. People spend significant amounts on gyms, trainers, dietary supplements, and other healthy lifestyle methods.”

As for the amount of time spent at work, it seems that here we can also observe a change in trend, since 8 out of 10 respondents are convinced that working too much is harmful to health.

Now rich people try not to work on weekends, and while on vacation, they turn off their mobile phones and do not check email.

"Obviously, dreams of a long and healthy life are changing the model of financial and investment behavior. Even among the richest people, the prospect of living up to 100 years entails a different approach to financial planning," said Ali Janudi, Head of Capital Management at Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa UBS.
