Dubai will itself determine the dates of state holidays

Dubai will independently choose the dates of public holidays.

Dubai, UAE. Dubai will independently choose weekend dates for public and private sector workers, according to a new decree No. 14 of 2018 issued by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Muhammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate.

The dates of all public holidays will be announced by the Department of Human Resources of the Government of Dubai, while previously the responsibility for performing this function lay with the federal agency - the Ministry of Human Resources and Emirate of the UAE.

The decree specifies that weekends can be postponed to the beginning and end of the working week if they fall between two working days. The next state weekend is expected to fall in mid-June - it will be a celebration of Eid al-Fitr conversation.
