Over 60% of UAE residents are overweight

Dubai, UAE. 6 out of 10 residents of the United Arab Emirates are overweight, according to a study by Oman Insurance Company, which was attended by more than 3 thousand respondents.

The report notes that men are more likely to suffer from obesity than women, and from the point of view of nationality, the ranking is headed by people from Pakistan 70%. The second place was taken by the Indians (66%), the third by the Filipinos (54%). It is curious that 43% of obese people are "satisfied with themselves," and 53% consider their weight to be normal.

"We did not expect our customers to be happy with their excess weight. They are happy and do not want to go in for sports or go on a diet. They do not consider being overweight a problem," the Oman Insurance Company said.

It is worth noting that obesity is one of the most common problems in the UAE, which is causing an increase in the incidence of diabetes. According to experts, by 2025 the number of people under the age of 20 who are obese will increase to 15%.
