The UAE will have its "smart" assistant

A company from the United Arab Emirates, together with an American partner, plans to build an Amazon-based technology empire.

Grammy-winning music producer Will.i.am believes UAE Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) can become a tech giant the size of Amazon. He wrote about this on Twitter.

The reason for such reflection was the partnership between his organization - I.AM - + and MAF. Together with the I.AM + retailer, for the first time in history, it provided shoppers with support for shoppers in a Dubai store based on artificial intelligence. Its working principle is reminiscent of Alexa Amazon's voice assistant.

"Data is a new oil, data is a new force. And a personal AI is more important today than a personal computer," said the producer and musician.

The system, called Omega, will be available at Carrefourre and Vox Cinemas. MAF CEO Allen Beydjani said she currently works with English, but Arabic will be available soon.
