A woman from the United Arab Emirates spent almost 30 years in a coma after the accident. She recently woke up.
27 years ago, Munira Abdullah from the UAE took her four-year-old son from school. On the way home, the family had a car accident. Omar received minor injuries, and Munira was in a coma.
Doctors thought she would never wake up again. However, her family did not give up. Last year, a woman opened her eyes in a German hospital ward.
“I always had the feeling that one day she would wake up,” the Munira 32-year-old son Omar told the media.
According to him, during the accident, his mother hugged him to protect him, and the whole blow fell on her. After the tragedy, Munira was taken to London, and then returned to Al Ain. The woman was in a vegetative state, and there was little chance of a favorable outcome.
Munira spent decades in UAE hospitals. Periodically, she was transported to new institutions. In April 2017, the Crown Prince's Court found out about her condition and offered the family a grant to participate in a medical program in Germany.
"I am grateful to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi for this. In general, our leaders always support in such situations," said Omar.
Munira benefited from treatment abroad, and soon she began to react to the presence of her children and the attending physician.
About a year later, in June 2018, the unexpected happened during the last week of Ms. Abdullah’s treatment in Germany. In the hospital ward, there was a small conflict involving Omar, and the woman began to make unusual sounds.
“Three days later, I woke up from the fact that someone was calling me by name. It was her!” Says Omar, “For years I dreamed about this moment, and my name was the first word that she said.”
Since then, Ms. Abdullah began to recover. She returned to Abu Dhabi with her family and is now undergoing rehabilitation in a hospital.
In a recent report, Ms. Abdullah was able to independently answer questions from journalists. After her miraculous restoration, she already managed to visit the Sheikh Zayed Great Mosque.
