One of the schools in Dubai was evacuated due to the "suspicious" actions of the visitor to the institution.
On June 12, 2019, the Dubai Gems Wellington Academy private school was evacuated. The incident is related to the mother of one of the students, who came to school in a surgical mask with detergent, left the product in the room and left the building.
As it turned out later, the woman did not plan anything illegal, but simply wanted to teach school cleaners "to do their job correctly."
After employees discovered a “suspicious” detergent container, they informed the police and told the parents of the students that they should pick up their children.
Shortly after checking the contents of the container, police said the school and students were safe. Major General Abdullah Al Marri of the Dubai Police confirmed that the woman was called in for questioning.
Al-Marri also said there was no reason for alarm. Colonel Faisal Al Qasim, director of Dubai Police Security, criticized the school’s leadership, noting that the incident did not deserve such a reaction.
“The school’s leadership hastily sent messages to parents, which caused unnecessary panic,” Dubai police said on Twitter.
“The Gems Wellington Academy Al Khail will function normally from Thursday. Since the safety of our students and staff is our top priority, we have temporarily suspended classes,” said a Gems Education spokesman.
