Anas Autry was an ordinary Syrian boy until one day, at the age of six, he accidentally saw Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal video clip on TV. From that moment on, the singer and his work became an integral part of Autry's life. Anas was amazed at everything - with dance movements, and music, and style. He copied everything on Jackson, although at that time he still had no idea about dancing and performing arts. He simply repeated what his idol was doing.

At the age of 12, Anas began to copy not only the dance style, but also Michael's costumes. He did better and better, and soon people called him "little Jackson." He began to speak at family celebrations and events, on friends' birthday parties. Everyone really liked it. And Anas decided to develop his skills. In 1997, he took part in a city dance competition. And took second place.

In 1999, he formed his first band, Dancers in the Storm. The boyish group rehearsed hits and repeated the movements of the then popular artists - Backstreet Boys, NSync, Westlife. In 2004, Autry had already begun to perform with his own shows and concerts, already as a professional mimic of Michael Jackson. After numerous tours and contests, the media and fans "awarded" Anas the title of "Imitator No. 1 Michael Jackson in the Middle East." And he began to teach the dance technique of his beloved singer.

Simulator number 1

In 2012, PEPSI, the official sponsor of Michael Jackson's world tours in 198090, celebrated the 25th anniversary of the singer’s seventh studio album, "BAD". A competition was announced: it was necessary to demonstrate the love for this album in an original way. The prize was a visit to the performance "Michael Jackson: Immortal World Tour" of the Canadian circus Cirque du Soleil in Japan. And the opportunity to appear before the audience in the image of a singer. More than 1.5 million people took part in the PEPSI contest! Anas was one of the first on the lists. He sent a video clip where he dances to the music of one of the songs and photos in a suit, like Jackson's. Anas Autry was declared the winner.

What is your impression of meeting The Jacksons?

Brothers Michael Jackson The Jacksons visited as part of their world tour Abu Dhabi. One of the local television channels invited me, as the winner of the PEPSI contest, to interview them. I gladly agreed. We talked about their world tour, about music and, of course, about Michael. I also performed a little brother-style dance for them. They really enjoyed it. One of Jackson even noted that my performance was the best of all imitations of Michael, which he had seen.

Which Jackson dance element is the most difficult to perform? And what is your favorite and why?

I started dancing when I was just a kid. Learning to dance just like Michael, just watching the video, is very difficult. The most difficult thing for me was to master ten spins in a row. But I so wanted to learn how to do this, that I spent a lot of time training and, ultimately, brought this element to perfection. So now I can completely control it. As for my favorite dance movement ... I can say that I love everything that was invented and done by Michael in terms of dance. All of his dance steps that I studied can be figuratively called my "children."

I enjoy it when I dance. Of course, the famous "Moonwalk" evokes a special feeling. I believe that this dance invention has expanded the boundaries and possibilities of the physical expression of emotions!

Are you watching Michael’s video today?

Of course! Behind each of Michael's feature films and videos is a wonderful story and deep meaning. He touched on all global issues - hunger, war, attitudes towards children and love. This has become a major guideline for me. Therefore, during my shows, I also try not only to look and dance like Jackson, but also to convey his messages to my fans.

The script and production was performed by the famous choreographer, creative director and producer Jamie King, who previously worked with such stars as Michael Jackson, Madonna, Celine Dion, Ricky Martin, Rihanna.
