828 meters indoor pedestrian crossing opens in Dubai

The elevated pedestrian crossing that connected Burj Khalifa Metro Station and the Dubai Mall, one of the world's largest shopping malls, has opened in Dubai.

The total length of the air-conditioned indoor passage is 828 meters; 10 travelators from 70 to 120 meters long and 1.4 meters wide are mounted here. It is planned that this transition will serve, on average, 30 thousand people a day. It is designed with high safety standards in mind. Over the entire length, additional exits to the city by stairs will be equipped.

“The 828-meter long crossroads, one of the longest in the world, will link the red metro line to the popular leisure and shopping center in Dubai. Direct access from the metro station, which has become one of the most sought-after vehicles today, will help improve the road situation in the area and will provide all tourists with an easy and convenient way in an air-conditioned room with travelators, ”said Ahmed Al Matrushi, Managing Director of Emaar Properties. Every hour, the crossing will be able to serve more than 13.5 thousand pedestrians. Thanks to the traditional Arabic-style exterior glazing, guests of the emirate will be able to enjoy magnificent views of the center of Dubai, including the highest tower in the world, the Burj Khalifa Tower, on the way to the shopping center. A Mashrabia-style façade and colored lighting complement the overall cityscape of Emaar Boulevard.

It is noteworthy that the length of the pedestrian crossing (828 meters) coincides with the height of the tallest building in the world, located here - the Burj Khalifa tower.
