OKKU - Everything's Different

THREE OF FIVE Gourmets WILL PREFER THE JAPANESE KITCHEN FOR ALL THE OTHERS. TWO WILL NAME YOUR FAVORITE JAPANESE RESTAURANTS. ONE CAN MENTION A COUPLE OF THREE DISHES OF A TRADITIONAL KITCHEN OF THE COUNTRY OF THE RISING SUN, IN ADDITION TO SUSHI OR ROLLS FROM RICE, VEGETABLES, RAW FISH AND ALAI ALGAE.

In order to understand what modern Japanese cuisine is, we again went to OKKU Luxury Japanese Restaurant & Lounge, the concept of which was born in Dubai and has already managed to gain incredible popularity. And recently a new menu has appeared here. Well, how can this be missed?

Restaurant where you are waiting

The first thing that captivates OKKU Restaurant & Lounge, located in the city's five-star Monarch Dubai Hotel on the Sheikh Zayed Highway, is a surprisingly warm and welcoming atmosphere. It seems that here they were just waiting for you to finally come. You will be led to a table and will immediately be offered a welcome drink of your choice - a non-alcoholic or alcoholic cocktail made from the company with the addition of chili peppers or basil and lemon balm leaves, a glass of beer or wine, water. Don't want to have lunch or dinner right away? Do not go directly into the dining room, but linger in a cozy living room with a bar where families or companies gather. By the way, OKKU has the largest collection of Japanese sake in the Middle East, there are even such rare varieties as sparkling sake and Junmai Gijo from Fukuoka Prefecture. A wide selection of wines and champagne, including Dom Perignon of the 1950s, 60s, 70s and 80s, as well as strong drinks will not leave indifferent any true connoisseur.

However, the main thing at OKKU is still food. The original dishes of local chefs who arrived in Dubai from Tokyo, New York, Los Angeles and Las Vegas and offer all the variety of meat, fish and seafood, vegetables and rice cooked in fusion style should be approached with special attention. Recently, our compatriot, Vladimir Kim, who was in no way inferior to his foreign colleagues, began working at OKKU. Each of those who work in the OKKU kitchen at one time gained invaluable experience working in such world-famous Japanese restaurants as Nobu, Matsuri, Ono, Sushi Samba (New York), Koi (Los Angeles) and Okada ( Las Vegas). Many of the delicacies of Japanese cuisine that can be tasted at OKKU today are invented by these chefs who have impressed such celebrities as Bill Clinton and George Clooney, Madonna and Hilary Swank, Denzel Washington and many others with their art. Now let's talk about the new menu ...

Crabs, foie gras and swordfish ...

New signature dishes on the OKKU Restaurant & Lounge menu today include spicy tuna with crispy rice, yellow-tailed carpaccio, spiced shrimp tempura, Wagyu beef steak with foie gras, shrimp and spicy tempura rolls and citrus black cod miso soup. Each signature dish is labeled "O" in the menu. The scallops served with truffle sauce, as well as sumptuous salads with sweet and sour crispy duck and pomegranate seeds or with tofu and a unique spicy sweet sauce, were especially admired. Another unconditional culinary masterpiece, we recognized the legs of the Far Eastern crab, served with some absolutely incredible sauce, perfectly emphasizing the delicate taste of crab meat. One of the main advantages of OKKU is that many ingredients for delicious and unique lunches and dinners arrive here on special flights from Europe.

It is impossible to try all the variety of dishes in OKKU in one evening, despite special portions for three to four people. It’s worth a lot of effort so that after merit has been given to all cold appetizers, as well as new variations on the theme of rolls, sushi maki, kushiyaki and tempura, leave a little room for dessert.

Believe me, the OKKU branded green tea souffle accompanied by a cup of green tea, which blossomed in a transparent glass mug with a beautiful exotic flower, exceeded all our expectations and was beyond praise.

The pleasant “aftertaste” from OKKU dinner remains from the unobtrusive decor of dark wood and from the dim lighting, and from the helpful and quick waiters. At OKKU Restaurant & Lounge, you feel that you cannot deny yourself true pleasure - acquaintance with exquisite Japanese cuisine, elegantly mixed with the traditions of different cuisines of the world and still dominating this ensemble. Everyone who has already been to OKKU returns there. If you have never been to OKKU Restaurant & Lounge, be sure to check out. Believe me, everything is different there ...
