In 2017, the Abu Dhabi Police Department uncovered 774 cybercrimes, 206 of which were classified as blackmail.

Last year, Abu Dhabi police managed to solve more than 700 cybercrimes. Tarig Al Gol, Head of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Dubai Police Department said that "Abu Dhabi police have taken special measures to combat cybercrime using the most innovative methods." He also urged the public to take precautions when using the Internet so as not to become a victim of scammers.

The officer also recommended not to follow links from spam, because in this way it can become easy prey for attackers. You must be 100% sure of the reliability of the sites you visit, or pages on social networks, not disclose your personal data to suspicious persons.
