Dubai philanthropist repays prisoners' debts

Dubai philanthropist Firoz Merchant paid the prisoners' debts in honor of Ramadan.

Dubai, UAE. Dubai entrepreneur and philanthropist Firoz Merchant paid the debts of more than 500 prisoners serving sentences in UAE prisons. In honor of the holy month of Ramadan, the head of the jewelry holding Pure Gold Group donated 650 thousand dirhams (US $ 177 thousand) to charity.

This amount was enough to release 300 prisoners in Ajman and another 260 from correctional facilities of other emirates. The patron also bought all of them air tickets home, where they reunite with their families and begin a new life.
