Dubai sets up fashion and design council

The Emirate of Dubai is going to become the fashionable capital of the world and stand on a par with London, Paris and New York in terms of retail sales of brands and luxury goods.

For this, in the emirate, by decree of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai, a fashion and tourism council was created.

It included the developers of the "Dubai Design District" project from the Tecom Investments holding, representatives of the Department of Tourism and Commercial Marketing of Dubai, the construction company Emaar. Council members will develop a strategy for the development of the fashion industry in the emirate, support local talents and organize mass events.

It is worth noting that retail trade today is one of the main engines of the Dubai economy, along with tourism. To support talented designers and attract fashion brand offices to the region, a new quarter with a large number of office, residential and retail space will be built in the center of the emirate, in the area of Business Bay. The first phase will be commissioned in 2015.
